Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. This page explains which ones we use and why. For how we handle personal data more generally, see our separate Privacy Policy.
These keep the site and, where applicable, the parent/childminder login areas working — for example, keeping you signed in securely. The site can't function properly without them, so they're not switched off by a cookie banner, in line with standard UK cookie rules.
We use Plausible Analytics to understand how the site is used (which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from). Plausible doesn't use cookies or any other identifying storage on your device — it counts visits in an aggregated way that can't be tied back to you personally, so there's nothing here to consent to or opt out of. This is a deliberate choice on our part, not a workaround: we'd rather use a tool that doesn't need to track individuals at all. We don't use Google Analytics or any advertising/cross-site tracking cookies, and if that ever changes, this page — and, where the law requires it, a consent banner — will be updated first.
Since we don't use any non-essential cookies, there's nothing to opt out of. You can still block or delete the strictly-necessary cookies above at any time through your browser's own settings, though doing so may stop login-based areas of the site working correctly — every major browser has a help page explaining how.
We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes — the "last updated" date above will change when we do.
