Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. This page explains which ones we use and why. For how we handle personal data more generally, see our separate Privacy Policy.

Strictly necessary cookies and similar storage

We keep on-device storage to the minimum needed to run the site. Two things fall into this "strictly necessary" category, and under UK cookie rules neither needs a consent banner:

• Keeping you signed in. When you log into the parent or childminder area, we store a secure sign-in token in your browser's local storage (a cookie-like technology, not a traditional cookie). It stays until you sign out, isn't used to track you, and the public pages don't use it at all.
• Bot protection. When you submit a form, our bot-protection provider (Cloudflare Turnstile) may place a short-lived item on your device to confirm you're a real person. It's there purely for security.

The site can't function properly without these, which is why UK rules don't require them to be switched off by a banner.

Analytics — no cookies used

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how the site is used (which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from). It doesn't use cookies or any other identifying storage on your device, and doesn't fingerprint visitors — it counts visits in an aggregated way that can't be tied back to you personally, so there's nothing here to consent to or opt out of. (Cloudflare already provides our DNS and bot protection, so this adds no new company to the small number that help us run the site.) This is a deliberate choice on our part, not a workaround: we'd rather use a tool that doesn't need to track individuals at all. We don't use Google Analytics or any advertising/cross-site tracking cookies, and if that ever changes, this page — and, where the law requires it, a consent banner — will be updated first.

How to control cookies

Since we don't use any non-essential cookies, there's nothing to opt out of. You can still block or clear the strictly-necessary items above at any time through your browser's own settings (clearing cookies and site data), though doing so may stop login-based areas of the site working correctly — every major browser has a help page explaining how.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our use of cookies changes — the "last updated" date above will change when we do.
